Innovation Services Company seeks an Associate Project Leader to assist with technology licensing and commercialization projects for global clients.
 
Company: Open Innovation services company working with an international corporate client base. The company utilizes its broad global network of affiliates, its technology marketplace users, and its offices in North America, Europe, and Asia to scout cutting-edge companies and technologies beyond the reach of most clients.

Location: Newton, MA with some virtual hours (local candidates only)

Job Type: Permanent part time

Hours/Schedule: Part time, 25 hrs/wk (flex schedule/location) with opportunity to grow to full time

Rate: $25-30/hr
 
Job Description:
The Associate Project Leader will assist with new technology licensing and commercialization projects with global clients. The successful candidate will work with Vice President, Lead Consultant, and independently to execute projects. Key elements of the role will be to identify new markets and applications for products and technologies that clients believe have growth potential outside existing core markets. Additional success factors are a passion for enabling business growth, comfortable with business development and primary and secondary market research, and an ability to synthesize findings, turning them into compelling recommendations. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Market research: Conduct both primary and secondary market research. 
  • Market opportunity assessment: Research and understand value propositions for client technologies. Find relevant new market and application opportunities for the technologies and vet those opportunities for fit with client technology value propositions, Engage with industry players, initiate introductions where appropriate.
  • Licensing services: Understand the intellectual property (IP) client seeks to license. Find prospective target companies and associated contact information. Construct and execute initial outreach templates and scripts to introduce license opportunity to target companies.
  • Reporting and presenting: Draft and prepare well-written, high-quality slide presentations and written summary reports for clients.
  • Participate in completing deals: Collective success will be measured, in large part, by new business generated (license fees, sales revenues) by/for client base. Apply a drive to deals mentality to support VP and Lead Consultant in closing deals.
  • Repeat business: Build trust and credibility with clients and industry contacts to translate successful projects into future engagements.
 
Qualifications:                                                                                               
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in technical discipline (preferrably engineering, materials and/or manufacturing) and/or in business
  • Exposure to tech transfer in a university or corporate setting
  • Experienced with both primary and secondary market research of industries, market segments, applications, competitors, and trends
  • Thrive in finding contacts across industries and contacting them directly, usually by phone
  • Skilled at tracking and synthesizing findings and transforming them into useful recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently deliver on commitments
  • Self-starter and ability to handle multiple projects efficiently
  • Aptitude for technology commercialization and business development, preferably involving the areas of engineering, materials, and/or manufacturing
  • Interested in and able to work with large company clients, at all levels, ensuring complete satisfaction and repeat business opportunities
Additional Qualifications:
  • History of strong academic performance
  • Fluent in MS Office, advanced Excel capabilities
  • Skilled in delivering and presenting findings; attention to detail
  • Excellent internal and external relationship building skills
