Location: Newton Center

Job Type: Contract to permanent.
Hours/Schedule: Part-time with some flexibility to work remotely.
Rate: $25/hr
Job Description: Work closely with new clients to develop a clear understanding of their needs. Set up efficient and effective bookkeeping processes for new clients. Manage a team of bookkeepers to ensure each client's needs are met on an ongoing basis. Provide customized reports and consultative support to the client.  Significant growth opportunities as company grows.

Major areas of responsibility include:
  • Managing client communication and coordinating client services. Primary contact for clients from the consultation offered to prospective clients before they sign up, through the onboarding process, and on an ongoing basis as long as they are a client. Manage communication with each client to make company understands their needs and keep them updated. Communicate the client's needs to a team of bookkeepers, whose work you will supervise to ensure that these needs are met. Most of these bookkeepers will work in a different office. Provide accounting services yourself for some clients. (This is not a CPA firm and does not provide attestation services.)
  • Occasionally managing projects in other areas of the business. From you may help out with projects beyond normal range of responsibilities. For example, every once in a while, you could be involved in setting up a bank account, researching a regulation, comparing insurance policies or payroll service providers, and more.
  • Experience in accounting for small businesses and/or non-profits.
  • Degree in accounting or a closely related field such as finance, business or economics.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting & bookkeeping best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, coaching, and time management skills.
  • Meticulous and extremely detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Adept with computers and good at figuring out new systems and tools.
  • Excel expertise is preferred.
  • QuickBooks experience is required.
  • Experience with other accounting software, such as SAP, Xero, Sage 50c / Peachtree, or FreshBooks, is not required but would definitely be a big plus
