Location: Arlington, VA

Job Type: Part-time

Hours/Schedule: 25 - 30 hours per week 

Rate: $35 - $40/hour 

Job Description: The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, performing payroll functions, managing the accounts receivable and payable, evaluating operating costs, ensuring payment of all tax obligations, and preparing production, sales and financial reports, and summaries as required for effective financial management of the business. As the Senior Accountant, you are a member of the accounting team, and you are accountable for meeting the deadlines set by the manager, payroll, government, and other reporting authorities. Your efforts contribute to meeting company-wide profitability and customer satisfaction goals by producing accurate financial information, thorough analysis of that information and effective management of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Because your position places you in contact with owners, managers, employees, clients, and vendors, and allows you access to key business and personal information, confidentiality, tact, sensitivity, and professionalism are essential ingredients of your performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Process vendor invoices thru Microsoft Dynamic SL
  • Process payment thru ACH and printing checks from the accounting system
  • Import hours from Time & Expense software of Dynamic SL to ADP TotalSource
  • Process Payroll thru third party administrator- ADP TotalSource
  • Monthly reconciliations and adjusting journal entries with proper supporting documentation
  • Sales tax calculation
  • Respond to vendor inquires
  • Deal with employees routine questions regarding expense and payments
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Organized, and must be able to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Help with other miscellaneous requests

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university
  • Three to five years progressively responsible experience in the accounting
  • Indirect Rate Costs experience a plus
  • An understanding of the entire general ledger and the relationships between various general ledger accounts
  • Has a complete understanding of subsidiary ledgers and their relationship to the general ledger and the financial statements
  • Has a complete understanding of the standard financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement and the relationship between them
  • Has an advance understanding of U.S Accounting Standards
  • Hands on Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL and ADP Total Source
