Renewable energy firm seeks part time Finance Lead to drive the building and deployment of financial systems. 

Position: CFO (Part Time)

Company: Innovative renewable energy company that develops, builds, owns and operates clean power solutions for regional and national agricultural clients.  Based in Wellesley MA, the business is a market leader in its space and, having proven its business model with established operating assets, it is in growth mode.  The company is led by experienced entrepreneurs who understand that establishing a firm and scalable financial management foundation is critical to its ongoing success.  Approximately 10-15 employees.
 
Location: 
Wellesley, MA

Schedule: Part Time.  Anticipate an initial commitment of 20-30 hrs per week in the first month while learning the business, assessing the existing infrastructure and developing go-forward plan, scaling back to 14-18 hours per week on an on-going basis.

Job Type: Will start out as a contract for 3-4 months with opportunity for growth.

Job Description
Company seeks a Finance Leader who can partner with the CIO and other members of the leadership team to strengthen the existing financial processes and infrastructure and to help ensure that all financial, growth and operational objectives of the Company are achieved. The successful candidate must possess a sense of urgency and willingness to go above and beyond as the Company is on a growth trajectory and the business environment is dynamic.  This person will guide / work with the finance manager to build on the existing financial processes and tools across the organization.  The individual will be expected to oversee reporting of financials and forecasts on a consistent basis to the leadership team and Board of Directors and ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities 
  • Provide strong leadership as a member of the executive team. Provide both strategic vision and tactical execution to build the company’s financial and control functions and systems. 
  • Provide guidance and oversight for the full time finance manager.  The finance manager would be a direct report.
  • Develop and implement a regular budgeting process to include planning/forecasting
  • Oversee the treasury functions through effective cash management. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism, which includes minimum cash thresholds to meet operating needs
  • Develop and implement appropriate system of financial controls
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, debt and contractual obligations.
  • Support capital raise and financing activities.
  • Analyze operational issues impacting functional groups and the whole organization, and determine their financial impact.
  • Assure all financial, analytic and risk management requirements of the organization are met.
  • Work with outside accounting group to ensure that the financial operations and resultant financial statements are prepared in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including generally accepted accounting principles, and are issued timely
Requirements 
  • 5+ years in a financial leadership position with corporate, start-up or high-growth companies. 
  • Master’s Degree and operational experience is strongly desired.
  • Clear understanding of the critical tools and processes required for effective financial management and the ability to roll these out.
  • Deep background working in various finance functions, such as control, treasury or audit, in highly complex environments is required.
  • Background in alternative energy, power or construction a plus
  • Has the highest personal and professional integrity — exhibits a stable personality, is able to give and take constructive criticism and demands high performance from both himself/herself and colleagues. 
  • A team builder with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced environment with ambiguity.  
  • Strategic and creative thinker. Proven ability to anticipate long-term financial and business developments.
