A building solutions service provider in Tysons is looking for a part-time Junior Accountant with experience in the high tech industry.

Hours/Schedule:  25-30 hours/week, flexible schedule
 
Rate: $25-$30/hour
 
Job description:  Reporting directly to the CEO, the Accountant will manage all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, (cash flow, income statement, balance sheet, A/R, A/P, etc.) and proper maintenance of the accounting system.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Transition from existing accountant
  • New & recurring contract invoicing for both subscription &/or hardware sales, and reimbursable shipping charges; applicable sales tax as needed
  • Determination and registration (as needed) of Sales Tax accounts in various States
  • Maintain current file of sales tax exemption certificates
  • Follow-up with customers to promote collections of A/R
  • Deferred Revenue calculation and monthly amortization in compliance with GAAP
  • Record customer payments
  • Accounts Payable processing, including expense reimbursements and contractor payments
  • Accounting/recording all expenses including: A/P, reimbursements, credit card transactions, allocating as necessary
  • Analysis of UPS shipping account allocating charges to reimbursable charges or expense categories
  • Capitalization of fixed & intangible assets, and prepaid expenses
  • Monthly amortization of prepaid & depreciation expenses.
  • Ensure obtaining all receipts/documentation for all transactions, including IRS required information for M&E.
  • Maintain documentation and retention supporting all transactions
  • Monthly and quarterly sales tax return filings and payment processing
  • Semi-monthly payroll maintenance & processing on ADP and recording expense entry
  • Monthly commissions calculation, accrual, payments and reporting to employee(s)
  • Analyze & reconcile employee healthcare deductions with healthcare bill ensuring proper deductions from payroll.
  • Ensure compliance and maintain files of necessary HR forms: Fed'l & State withholding forms, Form I-9s, W-9s.
  • Register & obtain State Employer withholding accounts for company as needed and coordinate with ADP
  • Annual preparation of 1099’s
  • Monthly Account reconciliations (Bank accounts, Credit card accounts, Prepaids, Other Receivables, Payroll Liab, Def Rev)
  • Monthly reconciliation/analysis of inventory & COGS
  • Monthly closing and preparation of financial statements
  • Assist/support CEO with quarterly SaaS reporting metrics as needed
  • Assist with annual corporate tax filing preparation, coordinating with outside tax accountants
 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working for a high-tech company  (SaaS desired, PaaS, IaaS, big data, IoT, cloud service, etc.), preferably with hardware component as part of the product offered with at least 5 years of experience
  • Must be strongly proficient with QuickBooks Online.
  • Must have above average attention to detail
  • Must be able to create sophisticated board financial reports, investors financial reports and adhoc reports
