Position: Senior Accountant (Part Time)

Location: Woburn, MA

Schedule: Part-time approximately 24 hours per week.  Flexible whether done across 3-5 days, but all hours must be in the office.

Job Description
Company seeks an accounting leader who is flexible to take on a breadth of tasks.  Initially the role will be to process A/R and A/P using QuickBooks as well as some payroll processing and will be the point person for benefits.  In the coming year, this person would partner with the Finance Lead to strengthen the existing financial processes and infrastructure and to help ensure that all financial, growth and operational objectives of the Company are achieved. The successful candidate must possess a sense of urgency and willingness to go above and beyond.  Reports to company Finance Lead.  

Provide both strategic vision and tactical execution to build the company’s financial and control functions and systems. 
General Accounting
  • A/R and A/P
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts, identify variances, and prepare periodic adjustments. 
  • Participates in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close by preparing necessary accounting entries.  
  • Cash management and credit card reconciliations.
  • File management of all vendor and customer agreements as well as working knowledge of the terms of the agreements.
  • Maintains the general ledger. 
  • Maintains compliance with GAAP for assigned areas and associated accounts, including adherence to all required policies and procedures.
  • Work with outside accounting group to ensure that the financial operations and resultant financial statements are prepared in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including generally accepted accounting principles, and are issued timely.
  • Create and update policies and procedures around the process flow of operational and accounting functions.
  • Provide support with annual financial and compliance audits
  • Provide support with activities around merger and acquisition
Payroll, Benefits and other HR functions
  • Process payroll (using ADP)
  • Point person for company benefits
  • Support recruiting and on boarding process with new employees
  • Manage Time and Attendance module for projecting accounting and vacation tracking
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks.
  • 5+ years in an accounting position with corporate, start-up or high-growth companies. 
  • Operational experience is strongly desired.
  • Clear understanding of the critical tools and processes required for effective financial management and the ability to roll these out.
  • Background in science or technology industries a plus
  • Has the highest personal and professional integrity — exhibits a stable personality, is able to give and take constructive criticism and demands high performance from both himself/herself and colleagues.
