Location: Arlington, VA  

Job Type: Temp to Perm
Hours/Schedule: 5 hours a week

Rate: $40 - $50/hour

Job Description: As the Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage the accounting activities of the company, insuring for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets
  • Manage the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance. Insure the accuracy of the Cost Accounting Pools as defined by DCAA regulations
  • Manage the accounts receivable activities to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including invoicing, billings, and cash receipts application
  • Work closely with all project leads and project control specialists to insure accurate time entries, invoicing and revenue recognition. Utilize internal tools to manage revenue backlog
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value
  • Respond to CFO, COO and CEO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate the financial needs
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a professional manner
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting 
  • 3- 5 years experience with a company providing services to the Federal Government 
  • General understanding of government cost accounting, GAAP
  • QuickBooks
  • Excel
  • Experience in the full spectrum of preparation of financial statements, budgets and cash management 
  • Able to work with multiple project managers and provide financial support
  • Understanding of revenue recognition as it relates to percentage of completion
  • Understanding of government contracting regulations and compliance
  • Ability to work with external Accountants in preparation of financial statements and tax preparation
  • High degree of integrity and willing to insure financial compliance across all departments
  • Strong communication skills
  • Expert project management skills
  • Proven ability to gather learning requirements and conduct front end analysis
  • Ability to manage the staff accountant

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience with Unanet Time keeping
  • Direct experience with CAS accounting system
  • Related professional certification
