Architectural design firm is seeking a part-time Controller to help with the management of their firm and to track project budgets to plans.

Title: Controller (PT)

Company: Growing architectural design firm.  Staff of 10.
 
Location:  Somerville, MA

Job Type:  Contract 
 
Pay Rate: $50-60/hour
 
Hours / Schedule:  First month will be approximately 2 days per week on a flexible basis, thereafter it will be 8-12 hours per week.

Job Description:  Support company owners and with the financial planning and control of their company as well as establishing a financial planning and budgeting process for projects in a fast-paced and employee-friendly environment.  The Controller will oversee the financial control of the business and the planning and forecasting of project expenses to assist in how projects are managed.  Controller will set up and produce the timely production of visual (chart) reports.  Company is seeking a professional who can work with existing outsourced accounting and other financial support within the company. 

Responsibilities include:
  • automatic company financial reporting
  • budgeting
  • cost accounting
  • financial analysis
  • policy & procedure development
  • cash management
  • cost control
  • establishing reports and creating alignment with reporting in regard to data usage
  • automated financial project management function, including project/resource management and financial processes
  • make decision regarding project management s/w systems usage
  • aligning workflows to resource usage 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required
  • Controller-level experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Industry specific (architecture, construction, engineering, design) experience a plus.  
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite applications and Google applications.
  • Highly proficient at Excel
  • Experience with Quickbooks
  • Must be a team player and collaborator
  • Must be self-directed, eager to excel and to learn
  • Proven ability to prioritize and direct one’s own work
  • Excellent communications skills, written, visual and oral
  • Possesses integrity to become a trusted member of a small, growing company
