Job Description: Under limited supervision, the Paralegal is responsible for providing assistance to members of the Legal Department. This includes conducting contract intake and processing requests for review, reviewing, and drafting agreements, and maintaining an accurate and up-to-date contract database.

Responsibilities: 
  • Perform intake of incoming requests submitted to the Legal Department including analysis of incoming requests, coordination of legal review, and communication with attorneys and requestors.    
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing an intake log and repository for all Meritus contracts. Reviews, analyzes, and drafts contracts in accordance with terms and conditions approved by the Legal Department.
  • Provide support for the attorneys and consultants in preparing, revising and finalizing legal and written documents.
  • Assist with producing print ready documents for review by attorneys. 
  • Accurately review, proofread and assist with any materials, including documents, reports, memos, agendas, minutes, presentations, forms and other items ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Manage communications and correspondence (phone, voicemail, email, mail) responding when needed; bring action items forward to appropriate individual’s attention.
  • Proactively contributing to office activates to ensure an efficient and cohesive team environment. 
  • Manage calendars, including scheduling/arranging meetings, booking meeting rooms, sending invitations, sending reminders when needed, coordinate travel, hotel, car reservations including verifying required travel documentation, determining timelines and processes to obtain necessary documentation and taking appropriate steps to acquire documentation. 
  • Arrange couriers and deliveries ensuring time-sensitive material is received on time
  • Assist in due diligence activities and performs legal research under attorney oversight.    
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve Legal Department processes, enhance internal controls, and conserve attorney time on an ongoing basis. Assist in auditing of process and controls as requested.     
  • Communicates efficiently and effectively with internal and external stakeholders relating to the Legal Department matters.   
  • Maintains and organizes files and documents related to the operations of the Legal Department and organization.   
  • Prepare, maintain and monitor corporate documents, regulatory filings, and correspondence in connection with health care transaction and regulatory matters.   
  • Act as a resource and promote teamwork and professionalism on an inter-and intra-department basis and other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.   

Qualifications:
 
  •  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. 
  •  Minimum of five (5) years professional experience as a paralegal, which includes contract preparation/drafting and contract management/coordination. Experience with the operation of computerized contract repository systems (i.e., Meditract) is preferred. 
  • Licensure/Certification – Paralegal Certificate
  • Knowledge of contract law at a paralegal level.
  • Knowledge of and experience utilizing Lean management style.
  • Ability to manage a high volume workload and prioritize based upon input and organizational needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to present ideas/information in a concise, timely, effective and appropriate manner through written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to receive and effectively process information through appropriate listening skills.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills and professionalism required to work with diverse levels of management internally and externally.
  • Advanced writing skills to draft contracts and prepare correspondence.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
