Location: Mix of virtual with some on-site work at clients.  Travel 2 days per week to visit clients may be required.

 up to 40 hours per week based on the consultant's preferences. 
 Approximately $50/hr
Job Description: The Senior Consultant will provide support to Mid-Atlantic-based clients, leading and cultivating the organization’s client base with ongoing fundraising activities and sales growth initiatives. This is a consultative sales position with a generous compensation structure based on performance, production, and client retention.  Reports to the CEO and Principal, this Director-level position will work closely and collaboratively with other members of the organization to fulfill the stated mission of each client. The right candidate will oversee the design and execution of comprehensive fundraising programs to include annual giving, capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, special events, memorial giving, and other initiatives. In addition, the Senior Consultant will cultivate new streams of philanthropy clients and steward current benefactors. This position is virtual, with flexibility on specific locations. The ideal candidate is willing and able to travel to nearby US and International locations to meet with clients and attend professional conferences as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to create strategic philanthropy plans, which include all aspects of fundraising such as annual giving, special events, major gifts, foundation giving, corporate solicitation, and capital campaigns.
  • Prepare and present reports to client organizations’ leadership, Board of Directors, donors, and other funding sources, which demonstrate fundraising effectiveness and achievement.
  • Personally participate in the ongoing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects.
  • Oversee and drive the firm’s efforts to increase brand presence in the marketplace through creative growth strategies including social media and networking.
  • Maintain a consistent understanding of the philanthropic culture, environment, and best practices in the US and Europe with the goal of increasing the firm’s client portfolio across various not-for-profit fields.
  • Create sales protocols and procedures designed to increase conversion rates and improve incoming sales interactions.

  • Experience in the fundraising or development field of a non-profit institution or consulting firm.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accepted and preferred methods of donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • The ability to work with advancement/development offices to identify prospects and convert them to donors through detailed research, considerate cultivation, engaged solicitation, active stewardship, and appropriate recognition.
  • The experience to serve as a resource for the Board of Directors and act as agent in developing the group as a funding source.
  • Experience to provide on-the-ground sales support for the company, generate leads and close new clients.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team to success and the willingness to continually improve the performance of the team and one’s self.
  • Past successful implementation and management of a comprehensive development plan.
  • Experience managing a capital campaign.
  • A proven track record in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts.
  • Ability and willingness to work within a team environment while simultaneously able to work autonomously to complete tasks with minimal assistance and guidance to do so.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of the various methods of charitable giving and the legal/tax implications associated with each.
  • Have the ability to recruit, organize, train, direct, and advise volunteers on effective fundraising methods, both individually and as a group.
  • Ability to create and deliver sales presentations tailored to the audience needs.
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with both customers and donors.
  • Understanding of the sales process and dynamics.
  • Four-year university degree, additional fundraising credentials preferred.
