Outsource accounting and bookkeeping firm seeks part-time virtual bookkeeper proficient in QuickBooks.

Position:  Bookkeeper with QuickBooks

Clients include not-for-profit organizations, associations, professional service providers, restaurants, contractors and others.


Location:  100% virtual.  Company is headquartered in the Washington DC metro area.

Hours / Schedule: Part-time 20-30 hours per week,  Core business hours, 8:30am - 5:00 pm EST daily.  100% Virtual. 

Pay Rate: $25/hr

Job Description:  Under minimal direction, accurately and effectively maintain a portfolio of client company books.  Ensure that all information is accurate and complete, reconcile accounts through G/L Trial Balance.  Able to record assets, leases and expenditures, and perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.  Can analyze and correct current-period errors in general ledger.  Record payroll and reconciliation payroll liability accounts. Update and maintain multiple clients accounting records, including those that tabulate expenditures, receipts, accounts payable and receivable, and profit and loss. 

Specific responsibilities may include the following:
  • Monitor financial activities and details.
  • Process accounts payables, accounts receivables, expense invoices and record bank deposits.
  • Download and record payroll from payroll service.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card and loan accounts and ensure back-up information is accurate and complete.
  • Timely process, pay and file state sales tax.
  • Ensure all documentation are complete and accurate for timely submissions and filings.
  • Perform professional accounting work in accordance with prescribed internal accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures.
  • Responsible for the accurate preparation of required monthly journal entries and month end closing procedures through trail balance on a timely basis.
  • Prepare, analyze and verify financial reports and statements, accounts, records of expenditures and revenues of each client for accuracy, completeness and neatness.

Qualifications (education, experience and skills):
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of responsible accounting or full charge bookkeeping experience related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, journal entries through trial balance.  Includes general ledger reconciliation.  Additional experience of up to ten (10) years may be substituted for the college degree.
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to prepare financial reports, statements, documents and entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with not-for-profit accounting a plus.
